2) VISIT THE ACADEMY OF EQUESTRIAN ARTS

Created by Bartabas in the Grand Stable of Versailles Palace in 2003, the Academy of Equestrian Arts is a “corps de ballet”. Its originality lies in the confrontation of various artistic disciplines, like dancing, singing, fencing or Kyudo, which is traditional Japanese archery.

3) Enjoy a Picnic in the Park

Enjoy a picnic in the gardens of the Chateau de Versailles on the picturesque banks of the Grand Canal. Find a shady spot under a tree or find one of the many picnic tables available in the area. Be sure to arrive early to get a good spot! On Bastille Day, the 14th of July, thousands of visitors arrive to enjoy a feast that is known as “The White Picnic” since everyone is dressed in white!

5) TAKE A BIKE OR SEGWAY® TOUR

Segway® Personal Transporters are available to hire from the Grand Canal with tour guide commentary. Learn some history while you ride and discover the beauty of the gardens of the Chateau de Versailles.

Bikes are also available to hire if you’d prefer a more active way of exploring the parks and further afield.

Rates: €35 for 1 hour or €55 for 2 hours. Hire depot near the railing of the Menagerie (outside the Garden).

6) GO SIGHTSEEING IN PARIS

Paris is just 20 minutes’ drive from the hotel or an hour by public transport. Enjoy a coffee in the Golden Triangle and stroll along the Champs Elysées to the Eiffel Tower, passing the famous flame of the Pont de l’Alma. From the top of the Tower, enjoy breathtaking views over Paris.

Hop onto a river boat moored just below and glide down the Seine as far as Notre-Dame. The Louvre awaits you for a tour around its world famous works of art. Cross the river and make your way to Odéon metro station, which will lead you straight to the Montmartre hill, where you can enjoy an exceptional panorama over the city and its monuments, illuminated at nightfall.

7) MEET THE ANIMALS AT GALLY FARM

Only 15 minutes from the hotel, Gally Farm is open from April to November. Learn about the fruits, vegetables and flowers harvested here, meet the farm animals or let the kids enjoy a workshop in making bread.

8) EXPLORE GIVERNY AND MONET GARDENS

Discover the history of the famous french painter Claude Monet. At the gateway to Normandy, 50 minutes’ drive from Versailles, the village of Giverny is situated on the right bank of the River Seine.

In 1890 Monet bought “la maison du pressoir”, where he remained until his death. Discover the village of Giverny and the house and gardens of Monet, which were real sources of inspiration for the painter.

9) CHAMPAGNE REGION
